The Challenge:
Create a means of emergency egress through a wall of
planters that define an outdoor restaurant space.

Answer: Use extrusions from our Anti-Gravity Frame
System to design a matching gate that will mount to the
planters.

The finish selected for
the Garden Gate was Jatoba wood with Zephyr Aluminum
banding.
The latch side of the gate, looking from the restaurant space. The hinge side of the gate, from the outside of the planter barrier. The stainless steel latch can be locked if desired. A close-up of the upright mounting post, showing the filler channel that is removed to install the mounting screws in the planter wall. The bolts go through the aluminum upright into a slot in the wood, which allows some flexibility in case the mounting surface is not perfectly level. Once everything is installed, the anodized aluminum cap is pounded into the top of the leg with a no-mar hammer.
